Welcome to the Lancer Cafe

At Saint Francis, we believe food is more than just fuel—it’s a way to care for one another, to gather in community, and to nourish both body and mind. We're the Hospitality Team, and we’re proud to serve our students, faculty, staff, and guests every day with delicious meals made with purpose and care.

What We Stand For

We’re passionate about food that’s good for you, good for the planet, and great to eat. That means:

  • Sourcing local and seasonal produce whenever possible
  • Choosing organic fruits and vegetables
  • Following the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch guidelines for our seafood
  • Buying Certified Humane cage-free eggs
  • Using dairy products free from artificial hormones

Sustainability matters to us. We’re always looking for ways to reduce waste, support ethical food practices, and partner with suppliers who share our values.

A Nut-Free Commitment

All food prepared or sold during the school day is made without nuts, and we work hard to source ingredients from nut-free facilities. While we can’t guarantee zero trace amounts due to external manufacturing environments, we take every possible precaution to make our meals safe for students with nut allergies.

Making It Easy to Eat Well

The Student Lunch Account Program

All students at Saint Francis have a Mosaic lunch account. This cash-free system is fast, safe, and easy to use—just scan your ID at checkout.

We partner with MySchoolBucks.com to manage your student’s food funds. Through the platform, families can:

  • Add money online
  • Set up automatic payments
  • Get low-balance alerts
  • Monitor spending
  • Review up to 90 days of purchase history

Payment Options
  • Credit card payments via MySchoolBucks (handling fee: $3.50, $150 max per deposit)
  • Automatic Replenishment: Schedule top-ups when the balance dips low
  • Check Payments: Drop off in the Sobrato Building (include student name & ID on the check)

Note: We’re a cash-free campus during regular meal service hours. Cash is only accepted at event concessions and during summer programs.

A Few More Things to Know
  • Students use their student ID cards to make purchases, and the system verifies the student's photo for security.
  • Students can buy lunch for a friend if both are present.
  • If your student’s account balance hits zero, they’ll still receive a basic meal—we’ll just ask that the account gets funded promptly.
  • Any unused funds will carry over to the next school year or can be transferred to a sibling. Refunds over $5 are available upon request. Please request your refunds (via lancercafe@sfhs.com) within 30-days of the last day of school, otherwise the funds will be donated to our Tuition Assistance program.

Get Started with MySchoolBucks

  1. Go to MySchoolBucks.com (there is also a mobile app)
  2. Create your free account and add your students using their school name (Saint Francis High School - Mountain View) and student ID.
  3. Set up automatic payments and/or low balance alerts, to ensure your student always has funds available

Thank you for your cooperation and your participation. We look forward to serving fresh, natural, and organic food to nourish the body and mind of your teen.

NOTE: two common errors that could prevent you from getting your account setup:

1. Please be sure you're selecting the school/district name "Saint Francis High School - Mountain View". There is a different school in there by a similar name (Saint Francis Catholic High School), but connecting to their school will prevent you from finding your student's account.

2. Please be sure when you go to "Add Student", you're only inputting your student's first name, last name and student ID (no birthday). Sometimes also including the birthday information confuses the system.

Please review the FAQ for further detail regarding how the program works.

How Can We Help?

Our team cooks all the meals from scratch when preparing your student's meals. All our stocks, soups, dressings and sauces are made in-house; nothing comes from cans. We choose fresh, healthy ingredients, never processed food high in sodium, fat and sugar. Food education is a big part of what we do at Saint Francis. We also strive to eliminate food waste at Saint Francis! If you have any questions, please contact us.
